Jed Steele has produced a crisp, charming 2007 Washington State Aligote under his Shooting Star label, which paired perfectly with a dozen pristine Northwest oysters at Etta’s in Seattle (pictured here). As you would expect from Steele, the wine is not bone dry, but it’s dry enough and downright zesty by American wine standards. At 11 bucks it’s a great deal, but’s it’s a bit of a shame they didn’t go really dry.
